The Puzzling Mirror
Monkey began it all when he hid a seedpod containing DNA in a tree.
Lucifer and Jessica, sparkats from Rainbow world, are sent on a mission to retrieve it before it falls into evil hands. Disguised as ordinary moggies, they are also pets to Tom and Megan who accompany them to different worlds on planet Earth.
Meet inhabitants of Rainbow world with coloured skin and hair, the Technopeople built from spare parts, the stars that ride on skateboards, drive snowmobiles in Frost world. Be prepared to confront the menacing baboons and the horrors of decay in Lost world. It is not always clear who is on which side and the end brings unexpected revelations.

The story is set in a village in Uganda and contains authentic details of African life. Megan and Alex live near the tea estate where their father works. Tom is sent to Uganda to live with the father he has never known where he endeavours to build a new and better life for himself. A friend to them all is Asiimwe, a local Ugandan boy who moves easily between two cultures but struggles to reconcile science with magic.
The story poses practical puzzles for you to help solve, and deeper questions for you to think about.

The Searching Stone
De-animalization! To lose your animal soul and become half human. The ultimate degradation. The plague is already in Animal world, and it is spreading, sending shivers of dread through every creature.
What is the source of this scourge, and how can its advance be stopped? What do Morgana and her stone people have to do with it all? And how does the computer help them? The task of finding answers to these questions and achieving a resolution falls to Felix, a courageous old sparkat from Rainbow world. He is helped in his quest by other moggies, and the children to whom they are pets. The story takes place against the background of everyday life in a Ugandan village.

Ruboroga is home to Tom and Megan where both their fathers work as engineers on the local tea estate. They and the cats are joined in their adventure by Thembo, an orphaned African boy with an interest in technology, and by Peter, Megan’s cousin. Peter’s background is an unhappy one. He is spoiled but lonely and seems unable to make friends. The resolution of his own personal problems is played out alongside the liberation of Animal world.
At the centre of everything is Hal, and his lighthouse. But who is Hal? And where is his lighthouse? And what role do apple pies play?

The Living Axe
Astan the spirit cat, the wicked old alchemist, is causing mayhem from his laboratory in the volcano. His plan is to overcome the sparkats of Rainbow world, take all power to himself and spread evil around the universe.
It falls to Megan and Tom and their most unusual moggies to thwart his scheming. They are helped in their task by Bazo, an African boy from the Ugandan village where they all live, and his fluffy dog Alfred. On one level Bazo has severe learning difficulties, on another he understands more than any of them.
Their quest takes them to other worlds and other times. By attempting to solve the great problems they find - deforestation, pollution, global warming,

quarrelling humans, melting snowfields - they also bring hope for a happier, healthier future to our own world.
As they travel the children face much that confuses them - not least the problem of knowing who is on their side and who is not - appearances are deceptive. They learn too that there are some questions to which they will never find the answers. And they grow in understanding of themselves and others.
